Maison Commune Emploi Formation
The Maison Commune Emploi Formation (MCEF) building hosts nine different organisations which provide training and employment services for jobseekers in Rodez, a town in the south of France. A public building, the MCEF has 3,680 square metres of floor space housing offices, meeting rooms, and social spaces. Situated in a neighbourhood just outside the historic centre, the building is surrounded by shops and residential structures from different periods and architectural styles.

Amstelveen Theater tower
While both bigger and better - in terms of functionality - than the original 1975 edifice it replaces, the newly restored Amstelveen Theater tower is perhaps most remarkable for its shimmering golden façade, which is pimpled with regularly positioned, 13cm-deep hydroformed hemispheres.

Two Housing Blocks
The housing designed by Dubosc & Associes in Montargis, France, is certainly uncompromising. Clad entirely in metal, it eschews any of the conventional domestic touches but it does so in a manner that is refreshing and bright. The only punctuation to the neutral metallic colour comes from the front doors in a cheerful red, with large painted numbers, and sensibly generous vision panels. There is no chance here of forgetting where you live, and the sloping external staircases are both inviting and, argues Eric Dubosc, important places of social interaction. ‘People never talk on internal staircases,’ he says. ‘Here they are out of doors, so they talk and their children play together.’
