Renoma
Complex ground conditions and the close proximity of neighbouring buildings, were among the many challenges facing architectural practice Maćków Pracownia Projecktowa in its recent restoration and enlargement of the former Warenhaus A. Wertheim department store in Wroclaw, southwestern Poland, now called the Renoma retail centre.

Head office of the Parish Council
The first thing you notice when you look at the new head office of the Parish Council of São Pedro Fins in Portugal’s Oporto region is a shiny metal cube tilted onto its edge. So strong is this impression that you could come away from a cursory view of the building, believing that this is all that it consists of.

Bilbao Port Terminal
There are projects on which architects use prefabrication because they find the idea attractive, or in some way it suits their design. This was also true of the new Cruise Terminal in Bilbao, designed by architect baragaño, but it was also the only way in which it could satisfy the extremely tight programme. ‘We won the project in competition,’ explained Sergio Baragaño, ‘and it had to be completed six months’ later. The first cruise ship was due in six months.’
