Soweto Theatre
When the sun is setting in Soweto, South Africa, the walls of the new Soweto Theatre glow in a warm gold colour. In fact, these walls are clad in a grey colour, but their double curvature means that they reflect their surroundings, picking up not only the warm tones of the low sun but also the green of nearby trees. This visual richness is simply one manifestation of the wealth of ideas and ambition that are invested in a building that will serve both the local community and the national and international visitors who already come to the township, bringing much needed tourist income.

Maritime Centre Vellamo
A giant wave appears to rise 30 m from the waterfront in Kotka, southeastern Finland. Set in the area that has been the heart of the town since the 1870s, this is Maritime Centre Vellamo, a dominating steel structure with a multi-coloured surface that reflects and changes with the light.

Steel Hall In Heddesheim
There can be few more colourful buildings than the factory building that Helwig & Helwig Architekten has designed in Heddesheim, Germany. Its client is a digital printing company which is known for the strong and durable colours it employs in the prints that it transfers onto items such as T-shirts , so it made sense to reflect this in the design of the building.
